Frequently Asked Questions
How is hojicha different from matcha?
Both are powdered teas from Uji, prepared the same way. Matcha is shade-grown and unroasted, bright green and umami-rich. Hojicha is roasted, warm brown, toasty and lower in caffeine. Try our Ceremonial Matcha for the full contrast.
Can I drink it in the evening?
Yes. Roasting lowers the caffeine, which is why many people enjoy hojicha later in the day.
Do you deliver across the UAE?
Yes. Flown in from Uji and delivered to all seven Emirates, sealed in Kyoto and opened for the first time by you.

Preparation & Care
Preparation & Care
Traditional Hojicha
• Heat 40 ml of water to ~80°C (not boiling)
• Sift 3g of hojicha powder into a bowl
• Whisk gently in a slow "W" motion until fully dissolved and lightly frothy
Hojicha Latte
• Prepare hojicha as above
• Add 130 ml of warm or steamed milk (oat milk pairs especially well)
• Whisk gently to combine
💡 Sifting before whisking helps achieve a smoother, more even texture.
Care & Storage
• Store in a cool, dry place, away from light, heat and moisture
• Keep tightly sealed in its tin or an airtight container after opening
• Consume within 90 days for optimal freshness and flavor
• Use a dry utensil when scooping to prevent clumping
💡 Because hojicha is delicately roasted, it absorbs nearby aromas, so store it away from strong-smelling items to preserve its clean, toasty fragrance.
