Loose white strokes cross a grey-blue ground, each one placed by hand before the kiln sets it, so no two cups carry the same marks. The pattern takes its cue from white birch bark, and it reads differently depending on the light and on which side you drink from.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAt 250 ml it takes a proper cappuccino with its cap of foam, a small latte, or a matcha latte with enough milk to soften the edges. Big enough to settle into, small enough to still feel like a cup. It shares its form with the Hibi Series but stands on its own: we have two pieces, and we are not expecting more.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHand-glazed in \u003cstrong\u003eMino, Gifu Prefecture\u003c\/strong\u003e, where kilns have fired continuously for more than 1,300 years. The artisan applies the glaze, the kiln finishes it at 1,200°C, and the two never agree exactly.
